Percy & Founders, a new 200 cover restaurant and bar, will open 2 April 2015 in the heart of Fitzrovia, London. Open all day, every day, Percy & Founders will be an exciting new social destination offering Londoners everything from a morning coffee or breakfast through to lunch, dinner and evening cocktails.
A series of spaces will suit different needs at different times of the day, welcoming both reservations and casual walk-ins.
British and modern European fare
Diego Cardoso has been appointed as Executive Chef and brings with him a wealth of experience from some of the world’s most creative and exciting kitchens, including his most recent position as Head Chef at Angela Hartnett’s Murano (2007-2014).
The all-day menu will feature simple British and modern European fare with a concise list of six Starters, six Mains, Salads, Sides and ‘Classics to share’. There will also be a menu for Bar Snacks (think Potted Rabbit and Courgette Wafers), Puddings and Sunday Roasts.
Starters such as Lobster & Prawn Scotch Egg (baby gem, shellfish mayo) and Crispy Short Rib (radish & mustard creme fraiche) will sit alongside main dishes of Chicken Wellington (mushroom & truffle, ale sauce – with an option to pair it with the Kernel Brewery table beer), Hand Made Tagliatelle (spring greens, nettles & haytor cheese) and Fish Finger Sandwich (hand cut tartare, baby gem & minted peas).
Salads include Isle of Wight Tomatoes (romanesco, shallot & Yorkshire fettle) and Hot Smoked Salmon (orange & fennel, toasted almonds) while sides will be in the form of Truffle Fries, Charred Greens and Mac & Cheese. Inventive puddings are all presented with paired wines if desired and include Percy’s Mistresses (maple syrup butter), Yorkshire Treacle Tart (clotted cream) and Lemon & Yoghurt (almond crumble & prosecco sorbet).
Of equal importance to the food will be the drinks list comprising affordable, quality pairing wines from small and consistent owner grower labels, served by the glass, carafe and bottle, as well as cocktails, mocktails, bottled craft and draft beers.
Located within the Fitzroy Place development
Percy & Founders will be situated on a prominent corner on Mortimer Street, within the new Fitzroy Place development occupying the site of the former Middlesex Hospital, currently the largest site under construction in the City of Westminster. The name Percy & Founders is inspired by the Duke of Northumberland, Hugh Percy, and the group of philanthropists who founded the Middlesex Hospital in 1755.
Percy & Founders is the first creation of Open House, the new sister company to Cubitt House, renowned for its award-winning public houses and rooms in Belgravia, Knightsbridge, Pimlico and Marylebone. Open House marks the group’s evolution from the traditional pub to more contemporary all day dining venues, set in beautifully designed, informal surroundings.
