Dark, rich, melt in the mouth… Do you know how easy it is to make one of the world’s classics in a commercial microwave oven?
This recipe serves 4, but can easily be increased – just double the recipe and serve in small ‘shot’ glasses.
Here’s what you need to make it:
Ingredients
- 125g plain chocolate
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 125ml double cream, softly whipped
Cooking Instructions
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a fairly large microwaveable bowl. Melt for 3 – 4 minutes in an 1100 watt oven on MEDIUM power (70% – 735 watts), stirring occasionally, to ensure that the chocolate melts evenly – and doesn’t burn.
- When thoroughly melted, remove from the oven, stir well, then stir in the egg yolks.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff and dry.
- Fold the whipped cream into the slightly cooled chocolate mixture, followed by the egg whites.
- Spoon mixture into 4 small serving dishes. Set in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Serve decorated with small curls of grated chocolate.
1500 watt oven – Melt the chocolate for 3 – 4 minutes on MEDIUM power (70%, 1050 watts), making sure you watch the chocolate as it melts and stir frequently to ensure that it doesn’t burn.
1850 watt oven – Melt the chocolate for 2 – 3 minutes on LOW power (50%, 925 watts), making sure you watch the chocolate as it melts and stir frequently to ensure that it doesn’t burn.
