Brighton i360 – the 162-metre high observation attraction and exhibition/conference/events venue being built on Brighton Beach – has appointed leading hospitality provider Centerplate to manage and develop all aspects of the catering and hospitality services at this exciting new venue which is due to open in summer 2016.
The site, which will be a prime beach-side location with sea views, will accommodate facilities for conferences, corporate and private events and wedding receptions for 10 to 800 guests; a heritage tea room in the 1866 West Pier toll booth; and a beach-level 400-seat full service brasserie.
Menus developed with MasterChef winner Steven Edwards
Lunchtime and evening menus will feature a series of bespoke signature dishes highlighting ingredients from the Sussex Downs and coastal waters developed in partnership with MasterChef The Professionals Winner and former Sussex Young Chef of the Year, Steven Edwards.
Centerplate, which is providing capital investment through the funding and installation of the i360’s kitchen and dining facilities, brings a background of hospitality design to support its award-winning catering operations and hospitality management services for the long-term multi-million pound contract.
The company will be working with planners, local chefs and suppliers, and internal teams to bring to life a unique hospitality offering to welcome guests to the elegantly-designed destination, which boasts a futuristic tower and observation pod to accommodate up to 200 guests, a retail gift shop, and a family-friendly children’s play zone, tea rooms and a futuristic tower and observation pod to accommodate up to 200 guests.
To keep offerings fresh and varied for regulars, Centerplate also plans to stage regular special ‘pop up’ dining events where people can enjoy exceptional cooking as well as meeting chefs Steven Edwards and his etch co-founder Josh Stanzl.
The best of Sussex

“Our goal in creating the destination brasserie is to offer the best of Sussex and we are particularly thrilled to welcome Steven Edwards and Josh Stanzl on board, bringing with them AA and Michelin kitchen experience and adding a special local flavour to our offer. We will serve the superb ingredients that are reared, grown, caught and brewed within the 26 mile viewing radius that you can see from the i360.”
Of the project, Steven Edwards said, “Josh and I are really looking forward to working with this amazing new venue. We are Sussex chefs through and through and have a fantastic larder to choose from. We will always use quality local ingredients to create unique, simple dishes focusing on getting the most out of each ingredient we use.”
