London’s VINOPOLIS, the wine tasting and restaurant venue near London Bridge’s Borough Market, is reported to be to closing at the end of 2016 – to be replaced by an upmarket shopping development.
VINOPOLIS occupies a 2.3 acre site beneath and beside Victorian railway arches, and has been trading successfully not only as a centre for wine enthusiasts but as a venue for corporate events.
In addition, it hosts no fewer than five bars and restaurants, ranging from the Cantina restaurant, cocktails at Bar Blue, Italian cuisine at Del Mercato, wine at Wine Wharf, or beer at Brew Wharf.
The freehold is owned by Network Rail, but it is understood that owners Wineworld London have sold the leasehold to a private company named Sherwood Thames Ventures for an undisclosed price.
