After celebrating a successful decade in business last year, Red Mist Leisure, the independently owned Surrey based pub company started by two friends, is toasting its sixth pub in its growing portfolio. 2015 has got off to a flying start for Mark Williams and Mark Robson, both in their mid 30s, with their latest venture – a £450,000 refurbishment of The Headley Hill, a 17th century pub in the picturesque village of Headley near Epsom.
Renowned for giving their hugely successful pubs (such as The Stag at Eashing, The Queens Head in East Clandon and The Wheatsheaf Bar & Grill in Farnham) the ‘magic Red Mist touch’, work on phase 1 of the refurbishment, which will see the pub’s name change to its original one of The Cock Inn, will begin in early February, when an investment figure of £350,000 will turn this delightful 17th Century pub into a destination establishment.
Like the other pubs in its portfolio, it is destined to become ‘county renowned’ for its fresh, seasonal and local British food, as well as offering a wide array of local ales and craft beers. A further £100,000 will be invested later this year.
The Cock Inn is due to re-open its doors in mid-March. A traditional pub steeped in history, the original part of The Cock Inn was built sometime around 1700-1750 and was originally a home for the stonemasons who built the beautiful church in Headley.
