Anthony Chapman appointed GM of The Idle Rocks and St Mawes Hotel

By James Russell: Anthony Chapman appointed GM of The Idle Rocks and St Mawes Hotel

February 18, 2015

Devon born, Anthony Chapman has been appointed General Manager responsible for The Idle Rocks and St Mawes hotel, with immediate effect.

Anthony will both manage the day-to-day running of The Idle Rocks and will be overseeing the St Mawes Hotel’s current renovation project and the hotel’s launch in spring 2015.

With over 15 years experience in hospitality management, sales and marketing, Anthony takes up his post after running an advisory service to independent hotels such as Stapleford Park Country House Hotel and Golf Club, Melton Mowbray and The Hartmoll Hotel. Prior to this, Anthony was General Manager of Cornwall’s The Old Quay House Hotel in Fowey. Under his leadership The Old Quay House Hotel won numerous accolades and attributes including ‘Cornish Hotel of the Year’ in the 2013 Good Hotel Guide and The Telegraph’s ‘Sexiest Hotel Room’.

David Richards, Owner of The Idle Rocks, commented: “We were looking to appoint a skilled hotelier who understood what our customers required from their stay with us, which is that of a stylish and luxurious retreat. What was also an imperative pre-requisite was a solid grasp and understanding of what matters to a local community as being at the heart of the village is very much what the St Mawes Hotel stands for. Anthony’s broad experience of the luxury UK hotel market, coupled with his thorough understanding of driving successful Cornish boutique hotels, made him the perfect candidate for the role.’’

In addition to Anthony’s appointment, Debbie Siobhan Warner joins the team from Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, Cornwall. Debbie will manage the St Mawes Hotel when it reopens this spring and will be responsible for PR and Marketing.
