Kingspan Environmental, part of the international Kingspan Group, is a global leader in the design and manufacture of commercial wastewater management solutions and environmental management.
We recently launched our range of catering food and FOG (fat, oil and grease) waste digesting systems for commercial kitchens – generating huge interest.
Right now, our totally managed solutions are helping kitchen owners save money, improve the efficiency of their kitchens, create better working environments for staff, and stay compliant.
Managing Commercial Food Waste
Food waste is a major issue for commercial kitchens.
Landfill costs, which currently cost the average kitchen £’000s every year, will only continue to rise, while maceration has been outlawed across the majority of the country.
Our Waste2-O food management system is a fast, efficient and easy to use way to deal with waste, and a tried and tested, cost-effective and sustainable alternative to bin collection and transportation of waste off-site. Food is loaded into the top of the unit and a powerful formulation of micro-organisms rapidly digest it producing a totally neutral, greywater solution. Any food that humans can typically digest can be put through the unit.
In just 24 hours, a single Waste2-O unit can turn 180kg of food into wastewater suitable for discharging through the drain, removing the need to bag, bin and send the waste to landfill.
Suited to any commercial kitchen serving at least 300-400 meals per day, the Waste2-O typically costs just 4p per kilo to dispose of waste food.
Waste2-O can also help kitchens drive greater efficiencies by eliminating the time taken for staff to bag and bin food waste, creating savings which can feed straight back to the bottom line.
Waste2-O will not only save you £’000s, it will safeguard your establishment against future legal clamp-downs around waste disposal.
iFOG is another intelligent, totally managed waste removal system that treats the fat, oil and grease which builds up in kitchen grease traps and drains.
Its high-performance, multi-strain bacteria are scientifically proven to be highly effective at digesting different types of fats and oils from a wide range of food-stuffs. It has been proved both to reduce drain blockages and cut down the emptying of grease traps by more than 50 per cent.
iFOG was Highly Commended in the Sustainable Catering Equipment Award category at the recent CESA Awards 2014.

Case Study:
Marks & Spencer, Grafton Street, Dublin
The challenge
Graham Haughton, Maintenance Manager:“We had a major issue with extreme odours and spillages in our grease trap room which borders on the main clothing department. This has been a constant source of worry – the last thing we want to do is damage our reputation with smells in store.”
The result
“Since the introduction of iFOG we have a manageable trap which no longer emits any odours. We are delighted with the professionalism with which everything from sale to install has been handled.
“We are also doing our bit for the environment through iFOG, a core value for M&S and one which we pride ourselves on.”
