In an industry first, LateRooms.com’s Simply the Guest Awards were presented online live from The Savoy Hotel, London by comedian and TV star Alex Brooker, most famous for appearing on The Last Leg, The Jump and numerous panel comedy shows.
Good northern welcome wins out
The 23 awards reveal which hotels the UK public rate the highest based on genuine reviews and this year the results showed a real bias to properties in the north despite London having the highest concentration of hotels in the UK. 14 out of the 23 category winners are north of Birmingham, proving that there is something about a good old northern welcome.
Among the winners, Harrogate did especially well, boasting two winners, a comparatively high number for the size of the town considering London and Manchester also achieved two category winners. Furthermore, three hotels in Wales were the best in their categories.
In addition to the 23 main categories, including Luxury Hotels, Spa Hotels, Beach Hotels, Activity Hotels, Pet Friendly Hotels, Historic Hotels and Bed & Breakfasts, a further 1200 hotels have been awarded Top Rated status meaning that they’ve achieved a guest score of over 80% in 30 or more reviews in the last 12 months.
Based solely on genuine guest reviews
This is the third year of the awards, which recognise and reward the highest standards in the hotel industry. They are particularly special as they’re the only ones in the UK to be based solely on genuine guest reviews, with customers only able to leave a hotel review on the LateRooms.com site after they have stayed there.
