Norway wins Bocuse d’Or, UK tenth

By James Russell: Norway wins Bocuse d’Or, UK tenth

Held at the heart of Sirha in Lyon, this fifteenth edition of the Bocuse d’Or was once again the gathering point for the very best in gastronomy worldwide with Norway winning after 5 hours and 35 minutes of breath-taking tests!

The prestigious gastronomy contest – created by Paul Bocuse in 1987 – rewarded the best Chef among 24 international candidates who performed live in front of 2,700 supporters and under the watchful eyes of the most famous chefs in the world. This concludes a process that involved eighteen months of national rounds and continental selection events.

Orjan Johannessen from the restaurant Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri distinguished himself by demonstrating exceptional skills and mastery of the imposed products: Landes Label Rouge free-range guinea-fowl and fario trout.

By winning the Bocuse d’Or 5 times and making the podium 9 times, Norway demons trates implacable consistency. The United States achieve second place, attesting to the impeccable quality of American gastronomy. Sweden is no newcomer to the podium, by winning its second Bronze Bocuse it remains the 3rd country in terms of achievements in the contest.

Bocuse d’Or – Norway

Orjan Johannessen from the restaurant Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri (Austevoll), represen- ting Norway won the Bocuse d’Or 2015 and 20,000 euros in prize money. Norway has already reached the podium 9 times. Orjan Johannessen had participated to the 2013 finale.

Silver Bocuse – United States

Philip Tessier from the restaurant The French Laundry (California), representing the United States won the Silver Bocuse 2015 and 15’000 euros in prize money. It is the very first time for the United States make the podium in 15 participations.

Bronze Bocuse – Sweden

Tommy Myllymaki from the restaurant Spira-Sjön-N.E.O.-Julita Wärdshus, representing Sweden won the Bronze Bocuse 2015 and 10’000 euros in prize money. It is the second time on the podium for the candidate who won the silver Bocuse in 2011.
