Leading independent catering group CH&Co has reinforced its position as the foremost caterer in London’s Square Mile with the award of the most prized banqueting contract in the City – The Mansion House. In addition to being the private residence of The Lord Mayor of the City of London and family, it hosts high profile hospitality for: The City of London Corporation; The Lord Mayor; Her Majesty’s Government; plus charities and Livery Companies. Over 40,000 people visit it each year and it plays a pivotal role annually in The Lord Mayor’s Show.
Sole preferred supplier
The City of London Aldermen have appointed CH&Co as the sole preferred supplier to The Mansion House for the next three years from 1st February, with the option of a two year extension – and is expected to be worth £2M per annum. Having held the contract for five years it beat off fierce competition in this tender process and the first landmark event of the new contract will be the Mayoral Banquet on 10 February
With its magnificent interiors and elegant furniture, The Mansion House provides the Lord Mayor with living, working and entertainment space. Built over 250 years’ ago, it continues to symbolise the City of London’s position as the world’s leading international financial and trading centre. The role of Lord Mayor is one of the world’s oldest continuously elected civic offices and the holder is accorded precedence over all individuals except the Sovereign.
Notable events
The most notable events at Mansion House are dinners and banquets for dignitaries from around the world – including the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s annual speech on the state of the British Economy. The Lord Mayor personally hosts between ten to twelve similar banquets a year, while each week Livery companies, City businesses and charities hold events with the Lord Mayor’s permission.
As well as managing all these events CH&Co will provide private catering services to The Lord Mayor and family. Since January 2013 CH&Co has held a Royal Warrant of Appointment from Her Majesty The Queen.
