Innovate Services secures first B&I catering contract

By James Russell: Innovate Services secures first B&I catering contract

January 21, 2015

Innovate Services, the innovative contract catering specialist, has won its first business and industry (B&I) contract to manage the onsite catering for Ultra Electronics at Greenford in Middlesex for a 3 year period.  Ultra Electronics is a group of businesses that manage a portfolio of specialist capabilities in the defence, aerospace, security, transport and energy markets.

400+ employees and guests

Innovate were awarded the contract to deliver a wide range of food & beverages and to manage the overall daily catering function for its 400+ employees and guests. Innovate has long been considered one of the most inventive caterers in the education sector, and is now using its proven skills in the B&I sector.

Inventive and value for money approach

When asked why Innovate was selected, a member of the Ultra Electronics panel commented: “Innovate really stood out to us – they presented a typical meal and board-level buffet, which really showcased their inventive and value for money approach. We liked the fact that everything they serve is a blend of freshly made, healthy meals, which is produced on-site, using fresh ingredients.  The range of hot and cold plated meals plus ‘Grab & Go’ options is extensive and we also really like their approach to helping us reduce queue times, improve overall service and deliver a catering function from 7:30am until mid-afternoon, to cater for everyone’s breakfast, lunch and snacking needs.”

Innovate is increasing the hours in which the dining facilities are available to staff at Ultra, with a breakfast service starting at 7.30am and concluding at 10.00am.  The lunch time service then commences from 12.00 midday until 2:00pm, while a ‘Grab & Go’ option has been extended so it is available throughout the working day from 7:30am until 3:30pm  To ease queuing, bar coding has been introduced, and cashless payments will also be implemented in due course.

As part of the contract, Innovate has appointed a dedicated chef to work alongside the existing catering team, who have transferred to Innovate.    The new chef will oversee all food production for meals and buffets, and is also responsible for managing the daily on-site baking of fresh bread, cakes and cookies.
