Roaring log fires, satisfying British fare, and its very own microbrewery, The Ealing Park Tavern is an historic West London gem. Now re-opened, following a stylish refurbishment, you’d be hard pressed to find a more handsome haven anywhere in London.
The latest boutique pub opening in leafy South Ealing from successful London operator ETM Group (The Gun, The Jugged Hare, The Botanist, The Cadogan Arms) features a 60-cover restaurant, large welcoming bar, private dining room with adjoining cobbled courtyard, expansive walled garden and bustling brewhouse.
Historic pub interior
The pub retains all of the traditional charm that secured its place in the London Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors alongside carefully-considered contemporary touches and ETM Group’s signature splash of taxidermy, including grouse, fox, moose and wild boar shot by Tom and Ed Martin themselves.
Soft leather armchairs are tucked inside snugs throughout the bar and Saloon, surrounded by ornate oak panelling, period fireplaces and hand-selected antiquities, creating a cosy hideaway for whiling away the hours or pre-dinner drinks. In the dining room, exposed brickwork, teal banquettes, grand chandeliers and decorative wrought ironwork framing the bustling theatre kitchen make for a chic space for lunch, brunch or dinner come weekday or weekend.
The Brewery
Acknowledging its history back in 1728 when the site operated as the Lewis Furnell Brewhouse until the mid 1800s – Ealing Park Tavern is bringing back the art of brewing. Brewing bitters and pale ales as well as seasonal specialities on site, the Ealing Park Tavern microbrewery will provide its wares direct to the bar with the pub’s Brewmaster on hand for tastings, tutorials and beer and food matching dinners. The ‘Brewmaster’s Office’ can be hired for exclusive beer sampling gatherings, private parties and much more. Brewing is already well underway and will be ready for the first tastings in February.
The Food
Food shares the stage with the brews and Ealing Park Tavern selects the best produce of the season. Mains combine pub classics with seasonal house specials and include a changing pie of the day. Sweet treats include jam doughnut holes with custard.
Impeccably sourced raw ingredients that are central to ETM Group’s foodie philosophy are showcased on all Ealing Park Tavern’s menus from favoured niche suppliers Lake District Farmers, Yorkshire Game and seafood hand-selected by the team at the crack of dawn from Billingsgate Market.
The Oak Room – Private Dining
Groups looking to celebrate a special occasion can take full advantage of the large, flexible private room available for hire at the back of the bar. Seating from 10-40 guests, with standing room from 20-60, the private room enjoys plenty of daylight provided by floor to ceiling windows, oak panelled walls, stunning furnishings, its own private bar and an idyllic private cobbled courtyard that is perfect for pre-dinner drinks.
Smaller groups wanting to enjoy their own space while still enjoying the buzz of the main bar can book the various snugs which can be arranged to host from 10-20 guests. The full dining room can also be booked privately for large events, seating from 30-80 guests, and, if that’s still not meeting your space requirements, the entire venue can be reserved, seating parties from 80-150 or from 100-300 standing.
Al Fresco
The arrival of spring / summer 2015 will be accompanied by the exciting unveiling of Ealing Park Tavern’s charming walled garden. Ping pong tables, hammocks and six cabanas, perfect for private gatherings, takes the offering far beyond the average beer garden and there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy barbeques (open to all or available for smaller private parties), hog roasts and guaranteed fun in the sun.
