The Exhibitionist Hotel: next generation luxury boutique

By James Russell: The Exhibitionist Hotel: next generation luxury boutique

January 13, 2015

Located in the heart of South Kensington, and situated within beautifully restored 18th century townhouses, The Exhibitionist Hotel brings together the heritage of the original property with a contemporary and stylish design.

Art is a central feature of the hotel, with eight galleries each offering a blank canvas for up and coming artists to showcase their work.

Providing guests with the highest levels of personalised service and hospitality is central to the hotel’s offering. Each guest’s stay is personalised to their own preferences, allowing for a uniquely tailored experience.

Design is at the centre of the hotel, with stylish and inventive interiors complemented by modern design touches. Guests can make the most of the hotel’s exceptional and best-in-class facilities. From all day dining, through to inventive and creative cocktails, indulgent plunge pools, private balconies and outdoor cinemas, guests expect the best from their visit to The Exhibitionist Hotel.

The Exhibitionist Hotel opened in autumn 2014 and features 37 beautifully designed and bespoke rooms, including a number of spacious suites. It is the first in a collection of boutique hotels offering luxury alongside seamless personalised service.

Abstract – the bar

The hotel’s new cocktail bar – Abstract – is a design hub of The Exhibitionist Hotel complete with colourful and illuminated installations – including a background of mixing glasses, filled with varying shades of vivid vodka. Guests and London’s locals will have the chance to enjoy classic and designer cocktails made by the hotel’s new in-house mixologist, Issac Muigai.

The Back Room – the main gallery

The Back Room is the main gallery space of The Exhibitionist Hotel, which will showcase installations and works of art. The Back Room will be transformed regularly so visitors will be able to experience something different with each visit.

The hotel’s first resident artists will be LE GUN, the London-based illustration collective, known internationally for their execution of large-scale drawings and three dimensional drawn installations.

The installation is a walk-in drawing, covering all four walls of the space, with a three dimensional phone box to an absurdist reality. A voice on the line quotes everyone from Kurt Schwitters to Captain Haddock. The drawing is a night time street scene from Legundon, a surreal parallel London with its own geography and mythology developed by Le Gun over the years.

The hotel hosts four suites – two on the lower ground floor level and two in the penthouse. The lower ground floor suites contain stunning plunge pools with Jacuzzis and aqua TVs while there will be an outdoor cinema in each of the upstairs suites. The suites have been specially designed by critically acclaimed interior designers, Squint and Jimmie Martin.

There are 37 individually designed rooms located within the hotel, many of which feature private balconies offering the upmost seclusion

Art and design is the central focus of The Exhibitionist Hotel and the property consists of eight galleries for up and coming artists to showcase their work. The Back Room, the main gallery located on the ground floor, will include art curated by Priya Khanchandani who also curates for The Victoria & Albert Museum and London Design Festival. The first resident artists to exhibit in The Back Room is internationally renowned London-based illustration collective, LE GUN
