Catering Academy opens 10 extra care schemes with Saxon Weald

By James Russell: Catering Academy opens 10 extra care schemes with Saxon Weald

January 6, 2015

National independent contract catering company, Catering Academy, has opened 10 Extra Care schemes with housing association, Saxon Weald, further strengthening its presence in the healthcare sector. The sites are located across the south coast of England, spanning Eastbourne to Southampton, and Team Academy is now successfully serving over 430 residents daily.

Bespoke, tailored menu

Each of the schemes has a bespoke menu tailored to those living in the Extra Care housing, which provides the appropriate nutrition and hydration to the resident, at the same time executing effective visual and sensory communication of the offering. Catering Academy will also be implementing a waiting-on service at the sites in the upcoming months.

Multi-site healthcare contracts

Catering Academy is continuously increasing its operations within the healthcare sector and has now successfully mobilised multi-site contracts in the field. As its portfolio in this sector has grown, so has the Catering Academy team: new recruits with industry specific training have added support to the existing staff and have optimised the Team Academy infrastructure.

Saxon Weald chose to work with Catering Academy because of the passionate and dynamic team, and the personal approach to resident engagement and involvement. Team Academy was also able to apply tariff and marketing consistency across all locations.

Jason Jones, general manager of healthcare at Catering Academy, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Saxon Weald as part of this contract win. Adopting person-centred principles is the backbone of our approach to catering in senior living settings, and Saxon Weald chose Catering Academy for its Extra Care schemes for that reason.

“We look forward to improving the catering experience at each of the schemes, and constantly refining the offering and service for the residents there.”

About Catering Academy

Catering Academy was formed in 2004 by three owner Directors, Kevin Cannon, Louise Wymer and Stacey Rose. The three owners had worked together previously for very successful independent catering companies and larger Multi National Organisations.
