New GM invokes best of the 90s

By James Russell: New GM invokes best of the 90s

December 5, 2014

At just 24, Josh Rose has enjoyed a rapid rise since entering the hospitality industry as a Kitchen Porter aged 15. Promoted to Assistant Manager level within five years of joining the industry, his aptitude for customer service and satisfying the needs of guests, not to mention a small slice of serendipity, have ensured his remarkable ascent.

Beginning at sister property The Suffolk Hotel before helming several local pubs prior to joining the team at The Rutland Arms, Josh has developed an affinity with the clientele wherever he has been, an exceptional ability formally recognised by employer Bespoke Hotels who have awarded Josh Employee of the Year. He has developed a relaxed, yet precise management style since joining the company, with even greater things doubtless around the corner. In fact, given his tender years, it’s hard to imagine him ever doing anything else!

“In all honesty, I don’t know what I’d do if I wasn’t in hotel management”, he says. “I’ve never really thought about anything else and am entirely focused on elevating The Rutland Arms to ensure it becomes the go-to location for those visiting Newmarket.”

Joining Josh as he embarks on a new era will be Emma Ambrose, who has worked in Kitchens across the full length of the British Isles, from Cornwall to Country Durham. Bringing with her a vibrancy and coolness under pressure, as well as an appetite for culinary experimentation, Emma likes nothing better than a room full of satisfied diners, and is sure to see compliments to the chef flow thick and fast.

The Rutland Arms is a 17th Century former coaching inn, located at the top end of the high street in the heart of Newmarket. With its cobbled courtyard dating back to the reign of Charles II and 46 individually decorated bedrooms, the hotel offers a distinct charm to all those visiting, whether equine-minded or otherwise.
