A year on since their first crowdfunding campaign which raised £440,000 in just 17 days from 119 people, artisanal pizza by-the-square-slice Pizza Rossa has opened two outlets and is now launching a new campaign on Crowdcube.
£150,000 for expansion opportunities
Fresh from opening its first permanent outlet at London Wall in the City of London and still operating its long-term pop-up at Leadenhall Market, Pizza Rossa aims to raise at least a further £150,000 to support working capital, and focus on a number of expansion opportunities.
The new funds are also intended to support a concession in West London, a presence at street markets and food festivals, and pop-up sites in shopping malls and supermarkets. The investment is eligible for EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) tax relief.
Concept is right for the audience
Founder and CEO Corrado Accardi comments: ‘We are confident that this new campaign will grab the attention of investors watching the steady growth of Pizza Rossa. Since we opened the first pop-up at Leadenhall Market in June, we have served in the region of 20,000 people – and that’s only a five-day a week operation. We opened at London Wall just three weeks ago, and we are extremely encouraged by the results to date.’ He continues: ‘It seems that the City has really taken to Pizza Rossa, and it proves that our concept is right on target for this audience’.
High quality grab-and-go
Aimed at time-poor city workers, offering a delicious and healthier product, easy to eat on the go, conveniently available and served quickly – 90 seconds from ordering to eating it piping hot, Pizza Rossa sets high standards in take away pizza. A quality product from Italy, where pizza al taglio – by the square slice – is an urban lunchtime staple, Pizza Rossa uses very low levels of yeast and salt, no sugar or preservatives, making it highly digestible.
Inspired by the street food vendors of Italy, it’s a high quality option in the grab-and-go market because it provides a complete meal, with a balance of protein, vegetables, olive oil and some carbs. It has a lower calorie content, with slices starting from as little as 200Kcal. Fully reflecting the Italian culture, Pizza Rossa also serves baked meals such as home-made vegetarian and meat lasagne, aubergine parmigiana, along with Italian cakes and high quality coffee. The all-day sweet or savoury, Italian-inspired breakfast deals and the meal deals offered by Pizza Rossa are becoming increasingly popular.
With the opening of the first permanent venue, Pizza Rossa has introduced a ‘Pizza Rossa Rewards’ scheme using state-of-the-art technology, using Oyster cards and contactless bank cards to register customers.
