Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Gérard Sintès as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde park.
Mr Sintès joins the London property from Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona where he held the position of General Manager for four years and firmly established the award-winning property as one of the best hotels in the city. During his tenure, the hotel has achieved numerous awards and accolades, including two Michelin stars for restaurant Moments, and most recently, ‘Best National Urban Hotel’ in Conde Nast Traveler, US 2014. Earlier this year, the hotel introduced 17 new suites designed by award winning designer Patricia Urquiola, to great acclaim and, in November this year, launched BistrEau by renowned Spanish Chef Ángel León.
Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Mr Sintès held senior management positions with a number of luxury properties, including General Manager of the One&Only resort in Cape Town and the One&Only Le Saint Géran Hotel, Spa & Golf Club in Mauritius. He has also been General Manager of the Shangri-La in Jakarta and Managing Director of the Shangri-La in Bangkok, a position he combined with the regional management of the Shangri-La group for the Thailand and Myanmar area.
Of French nationality, Gérard Sintès has a broad knowledge of the international hotel sector and has spent an extensive part of his professional career in both Asia and Europe.
