Each month we acknowledge the top 15 product pages in H&C News as judged by the time our reader’s spend reading them. The equation applied is to multiply the total number of page views by the average time spent on the page from our Google analytics.
We then as the year quickly passes by keep a watch on the top 15 product pages throughout the year. Our first measurement was taken on 10 September and we have updated that page today below.
There are three key drivers and all have their own effect and timescale, the first is a well written headline and page message, a headline that catches the eye and stands out alongside 14 others, generating clicks and page views. The message in the page with features, advantages and benefits to the reader spending her or his time reading in full then leads to the second. The second being social media sharing by the reader to their social networks. As the reader has recognised a value to the page information they then use social media to share the page with like-minded colleagues. A glance at the stats at the bottom of each page shows the sharing effect, although all shares are not equal, who is sharing is key and this website details how to measure social media influence.
The third driver is Google, people searching for information being told by Google that their information search is best matched by an H&C News product page. This can have the biggest volume of page views effect of all especially if the term is a common one, and of course if someone is looking for a product and Google advises them yours best fits…
