New Hogs Back Brewery Bar at G Live Guildford

By James Russell: New Hogs Back Brewery Bar at G Live Guildford

November 5, 2014

Comedian Henning Wehn delivered a barrel of laughs when he opened the brand new Hogs Back Brewery Bar at G Live last month. The self-styled ambassador of German comedy, best known for his contributions to 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Would I Lie To You (BBC1) and Room 101 (BBC1), took the opportunity to sample the selection of beers, lagers and ales from the Hogs Back Brewery.

The company brews over 65,000 pints a week, including TEA Ale, Hazy Hog cider and Hogstar lager, which will all be available at the bar on draught. A selection of bottled craft beers will be available at the new bar in addition to the main bar.

Quality, bespoke customer experiences

Director of G Live, Alvin Hargreaves, said: “G Live Guildford and the Hog’s Back Brewery actually make rather good bedfellows! We share values that are rooted in quality, bespoke customer experiences that are firmly focused on local communities in the Guildford and Surrey areas. G Live has recognised the need to increase bar capacity for larger events to further improve customer service and, by partnering with the Hog’s Back Brewery, we aim to do this in a highly personalised and innovative way.”

Grown and crafted within 10 miles

Owner of the Hogs Back Brewery, Rupert Thompson, said: “We are delighted to be working with G Live to bring hand brewed and local beers to complement their national brand range, and we are confident visitors to the venue will applaud the greater range, which adds another unique element to their venue’s offering.

“Many of the ingredients for our beers grow within 10 miles of the venue and are crafted by local people and delivered fresh direct to the venue. Our famous TEA Ale has now been joined on draught by our new long matured Hogstar English lager and Hazy Hog cloudy cider, and a wide range of new bottled beers. An exciting initiative that I think other theatre groups will watch with interest.”
