D&D announces restaurants for Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow

By James Russell: D&D announces restaurants for Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow

November 23, 2014

D&D London has announced its plans to develop restaurants and bars as part of Land Securities £300m redevelopment of Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow. The 7,500sqft restaurant will be located on the upper two floors of the building housing the Glasgow Concert Hall, and will have extensive outdoor terraces with views over the Glasgow skyline.

The venture represents D&D London’s second opening in a UK city outside of London following its very successful 2013 opening of Crafthouse (pictured above) and Angelica restaurants in Leeds.

Des Gunewardena, Chairman and CEO of D&D London commented: “We are very pleased to announce the opening of our first restaurant in Scotland. Glasgow ranks only second to London as a centre for retail in the UK and we have secured an absolutely stunning site. We are also very excited about working once again with Land Securities, whose development at Trinity Centre in Leeds houses D&D restaurants Crafthouse and Angelica, which have been successes for us. I am sure that we will be equally as successful at Buchanan Galleries.”

John Grimes, Retail Leasing Director at Land Securities stated: “Securing such high profile tenants at this early stage of the development process demonstrates the demand for the very best retail space in Glasgow’s famous shopping district. Brands understand the importance of having an excellent presence in one of the top shopping destinations in the UK – a demand that we are meeting by creating one of the most important retail and dining destinations in Europe “
