The Ipswich Star reports that Muthu Hotels has acquired the Belstead Brook, its first site in the UK.
Muthu specialises in resort complexes, operating a total of 14 properties in Portugal, Spain, India and Singapore, and is part of the M G Muthu Group of companies based in the Indian city of Chennai.
The 88-bedroom Belstead Brook Hotel includes a restaurant, conference and wedding facilities, a garden bar and a leisure club with an indoor pool, was marketed through Fleurets which described the sale as “a unique opportunity”.
The latest sale is thought to represent at least the 10th change in management or ownership since it was first sold in 1988 by the Hatfield family, who founded the hotel which was first based on a Jacobean hunting lodge, in 1962.
