Christie + Co has been instructed to sell Soprano St Magnus Court Hotel in Aberdeen, the oil capital of Europe.
Soprano’s boasts an enviable location with all the city’s main art galleries, museums and theatres within 5 minutes walk or less. The hotel is also the gateway to the city’s historical ‘Merchant Quarter’ — home to an electric mix of fabulous restaurants, bars and live music.
Located in the city centre, the hotel is opposite Aberdeen’s unique transport hub: a port, brand new coach station and refurbished train station, all complemented by the direct airport bus which starts and stops outside the hotel.
Built in 1872, the turreted granite exterior was originally the city’s Caledonian Railway hotel. The property consists of 29 bedrooms and a further 3 under construction with easy provision for a management flat.
In 2009, a beautiful and stylish new kitchen, bar and restaurant were constructed with a separate public entrance to the main street. The property also features a spacious reading area.
Ken Sims of Christie + Co’s Edinburgh office is handling the sale. He comments: “Our client acquired the hotel in 2005 before the new adjacent Union Square shopping centre and integrated transport system were constructed.
“They have added seven new bedrooms, a function room, and installed a brand new kitchen, bar and restaurant. All the bedrooms, services and public areas have been substantially upgraded.”
Offers of £1,800,000 for the freehold interest are being sought.
