This November, a dozen British artists will gather together to share their artistic visual expression of sleep at a special exhibition at Gallery Different in London hosted by ibis hotels.
The ibis Sleep Art exhibition, which takes place from 24 November, has been curated by ibis hotels, the hotel company which brought you the Sleep Art App – an iphone app which turns the movements of your sleep into digital brush strokes. This year ibis has taken sleep creativity one-step further, demonstrating how sleep and creativity are connected, working with visual artists to explore this in a special exhibition.
Stunning works inspired by sleep
Ibis has worked with a dozen British artists, asking each artist to create a piece of work inspired by sleep. The results are stunning and reflect the dreams and creativity inspired by a good night’s sleep.
The exhibition opens on 24 November – however, the exhibition will be incomplete when it launches. Not only can visitors to the gallery see the dreams of the artists, they can watch them sleep and work. The exhibition will feature the Sweet Bed by ibis, a bed designed and built by ibis engineers. Every night during the exhibition, artists will sleep in the bed in the gallery and create a new work of art inspired by that night’s sleep. The exhibition will grow daily, the exhibition itself therefore becoming an installation space for the exploration of sleep and creativity.
Research by ibis has shown that 7.5% of Brits have been creative in their sleep, painting, drawing and creating – this number rises to one in 10 adults under the age of 45. Sleep and creativity has long been linked: the ibis Sleep Art exhibition will lay this to creative rest.
