Rosa’s Thai Café journeys from East to West London

By James Russell: Rosa’s Thai Café journeys from East to West London

October 31, 2014

Continuing its exciting journey from humble beginnings as a street food stall on East London’s Brick Lane, Rosa’s Thai Café is opening in its first West London location in Chelsea, setting up shop in a Grade-II listed building on Fulham Road.

Husband and wife team, Alex and Saiphin Moore will introduce SW10 to their winning combination of authentic, home-cooked, comforting Thai food including a range of brand new dishes and a debut cocktail offering, inspired by Saiphin’s travels across Asia.

Seasonally changing menu

Lovingly created by co-owner and head chef Saiphin Moore, Rosa’s Chelsea will offer a seasonally changing menu that celebrates traditional cooking techniques, bursting with the punchy, flavoursome, signature Thai dishes with a modern twist that have won Rosa’s its legion of fans.  Must-tries include Spicy Grilled Pork Neck Salad with a bittersweet Thai dressing; Red Curry with Palm Heart (v) garnished with lime leaves and Thai herbs with a lemongrass marinade; Stir-fried Crispy Pork with Kra Prow – a modern version of a popular Thai dish with a Chinese twist of crispy pork, mixed with galangal, mint and chilli; Minute Seared Tuna with fresh Thai herbs, capers, garlic and chilli, and Northern Thai Sausage with a kick of ginger, coriander, chilli and lettuce.

Dedicated cocktail bar

A first for Rosa’s will be the arrival of a dedicated cocktail bar serving inspired exotic fruit and spiced blends at great value (from £7.50).

An extensive drinks list has been carefully selected to complement the spicy flavours of Thai food, featuring a range of red, white and rosé wines, available by the glass and carafe; soft drinks including home-brewed iced teas served in pocket-sized jars; freshly-made juices (mango & apple, coconut and pineapple) and specially selected, handpicked Kuki Cha roasted teas.  Rosa’s beer partner, Chang, will also host their first draught beer in a UK restaurant, at Rosa’s Chelsea.

Contemporary combines with kitsch

Reflecting the fact that Rosa’s is a marriage of two cultures, the new look combines the contemporary with the kitsch, divided into two distinct areas replicating that of a modern Chelsea-style living room in the bar at the front complete with feature fireplaces, contrasted against the more iconic minimalist Rosa’s décor in the restaurant at the back with a variety of slumber-back dining chairs and banquette seating.  Key features include terrazzo-style flooring, white ceramic brick wall tiling, chalked-up menu blackboards and traditional artwork specially commissioned from Thailand.
