London’s largest bottle of bubbly takes pride of place at St Pancras International this month to mark the start of Searcys National Champagne Week (6th – 12th October).
Weighing in at around 100 pounds and measuring more than 4ft tall, the enormous 30-litre bottle – also known as a Melchizedek – has arrived from Paris. Security guards expertly transported it to its prime position at Searcys St Pancras Grand – Europe’s longest Champagne bar.
With a world-class reputation at some of the UK’s most esteemed venues, including the Gherkin, Blenheim Palace and 30 Pavilion Road, Searcys is keen to mark National Champagne Week in London and encourage revellers to raise a toast and celebrate – whatever the occasion.
Chris Maddison, Managing Director of Searcys, said: “Containing the same amount of Champagne as 40 standard bottles, the price tag doesn’t come cheap and pouring from the bottle is no easy feat – it requires a specially devised mechanical stand for expert pouring precision into the flute!”
“Whether or not people have a specific occasion to celebrate, Champagne can make any moment feel extra special. Throughout National Champagne Week, we’ll be hosting a series of Champagne tasting sessions across our Champagne bars and hoping that people up and down the country will raise a toast to create their very own Champagne moments.”
Searcys bars have up to 15 Champagnes available by the glass each day and 140 by the bottle.
