Building on successes in Soho and nearby Chiswick, New York style restaurant, café and bar Jackson + Rye has opened in Richmond on Heron Square. Open for breakfast and brunch through to lunch, dinner and everything in between, Jackson + Rye offers stateside signatures alongside American-inspired cocktails and a wide range of rye whiskeys and bourbons.
Prime position
Occupying a prime position on the banks of the River Thames, the 3,700 square foot site, 140-cover restaurant’s décor has taken inspiration from the moody sophistication of 1920s New York haunts.
Dark hues dominate the restaurant’s colour palette with old style hanging ceiling fans, pendant lamps and wall lights adding warmth. Bespoke furniture such as deep olive leather banquettes and timber chairs allow guests to enjoy a comfortable dining experience whilst a large marble bar with sage leather bar stools provides a central focal point.
Open seven days a week from 8.00am (9.00am on Sundays) to 11.00pm (11.30pm on Saturdays), the all-day menu is overseen by executive chef Mark Askew. Served until 4.30pm, weekend brunch features an eggs menu that serves up a variety from Gardener’s to Angler’s and a ‘bakery corner’ serving milk and cookies, jalapeno corn bread and granola & yoghurt alongside buttermilk pancakes.
For lunch and dinner expect East Coast inspired dishes such as the J+R cheeseburger and buttermilk chicken, a wide range of steaks and grills and signature dishes such as hot shrimp & grits.
The drinks list includes a wide variety of American rye whiskeys including 18 year old Sazerac, Rittenhouse, Copper Fox, Bulliet and Smooth Ambler. US-inspired cocktails include Sours, Manhattans and Old Fashioneds alongside a selection of American bottled beer, Bloody Marys and freshly blended juices and smoothies.
Third site
Graham Ford, operations director says: “We’re delighted to be launching our third site in a prime position in Richmond.
