Starboard Hotels’ has received the award for the Best Youth Accommodation from the Global Youth Travel Awards 2014 for HOAX Liverpool. This follows HOAX’ recent accolade as ‘Hippest’ UK Hostel.
The Best Youth Accommodation award was attributed to Starboard’s flagship boutique hostel, HOAX Liverpool, in recognition of its commitment to providing young travellers with outstanding quality and experiences. The award, which was voted for by 7,500 travellers, was presented to the Starboard team at The Mansion House in Dublin on 27 September.
Looking for expansion
Since the launch of HOAX Liverpool in July 2013, Starboard has been actively looking for suitable sites in which to expand its hostel offering. The company has previously utilised disused retail and office buildings in prime city locations to provide quality hotels and hostels.
Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels, says: “As a site, HOAX Liverpool showed a lot of potential, boasting a prime location in a popular city break destination. What was once an unloved department store has become an award-winning hostel in a little over one year from opening.
“With the endorsement from Global Youth Travel Awards we are confident that the HOAX brand will continue to be at the forefront of luxury hostelling and this puts us in a strong position for further growth. We are constantly on the lookout for expansion opportunities – ideally, we’d like to see the HOAX name in more major UK cities.”
HOAX Liverpool
In the heart of Cavern Quarter, Liverpool’s vibrant, cultural hub, HOAX Liverpool comprises 52 rooms (268 beds), offering a mix of dorms and private rooms each with a unique, quirky design. With its very own contemporary street kitchen and bar, Hopskotch, and basement music venue, The Hatch, HOAX offers young travellers a dynamic, fun place to stay at an affordable rate.
Emma Wright, general manager of HOAX Liverpool, comments: “Since joining the HOAX team in August, I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we receive from our young travellers – it’s fantastic to have an award that communicates this.”
