Autumn is upon us and the fruit harvest in Serbia is well under-way. Production of some of the tastiest and most natural fruit preserves, juices and jams in the world is gearing up. This wonderful Serbian produce has been unavailable in the UK until, inspired by memories of her childhood, Snezana decided to bring these products over from her native country two years ago. The age old tradition of preserving nature’s bounty for the winter months ahead still resonates in modern Serbia and lives in the folk knowledge of the people.
Today Snezana’s business, Granny’s Secret (UK), has announced their approval as a supplier to Selfridges & Co, and Granny’s Secret products will soon appear on the shelves at their London, Birmingham and Manchester stores. Products selected are the Apricot, Blackcurrant, Quince and Sour Cherry Extra Jams, also award winning Apricot and Wild Blueberry 100% fruit spreads with no added sugar. Snezana has come a long way from her former career as an aerospace engineer working for Airbus on major aircraft projects. Introducing these natural and tasty preserves and juices to the UK is her new mission which is well on track as this latest success demonstrates. Bursting with flavour because of traditional preparation and the lack of additives or preservatives, more and more people have enthusiastically embraced Serbian produce.
Manufacturer Foodland ensures tradition is honoured, producing 100% natural preserves from its base at the foot of Mount Kopaonik in southern Serbia. Fruit is grown in the rolling wooded hills close to the manufacturing plant, and benefits from the ideal climate of this beautiful rural region. Winters are certainly harsh but Spring brings the warmth of the Mediterranean sun combined with frequent rain. The long Summer ripens the crops perfectly ready to be harvested and processed.
