John Artis Limited has announced the acquisition of 70% of its share equity by leading German porcelain manufacturer, BHS tabletop AG.
Based in Chessington, Surrey, Artis is already a leading name in the UK out-of-home table and barware markets and has been established for almost 70 years. Originally founded by John Artis Snr. in 1945, the Company is now run by his son, John Artis Jr. as Managing Director, with further equity held by several fellow directors.
BHS tabletop AG, based in Selb, Bavaria, is a global market leader in the manufacture of porcelain for the Hospitality and Foodservice industry. The synergy between the two companies is considerable, as they share the same high standards of product quality and marketing expertise. Besides the investment in the business, the acquisition will markedly strengthen and broaden the Artis portfolio, giving the Company access to two of BHS tabletop’s leading brands, Bauscher and Tafelstern.
The day-to-day management of Artis remains unchanged, with directors and staff maintaining their existing roles, but welcoming the additional management expertise from BHS tabletop AG. The Company will continue to operate from its premises in Chessington.
