2015 Michelin Restaurants free app launched

By James Russell: 2015 Michelin Restaurants free app launched

October 10, 2014

This year’s highly anticipated Michelin guide, released last week, is also available in app form. In partnership with Bookatable, the restaurant booking service, users can for the first time browse, discover and instantly book their favourite MICHELIN guide listed restaurants from their iPhone.

Those eager to know the changes in this year’s 2015 Michelin guide need only turn to the app. With 14 new stars awarded across the UK, including two in Wales, two on the Scottish islands and one in Cornwall, diners are spoilt for choice.

Diversity among this year’s winners is even more evident in London as two restaurants with counters have been awarded stars – Spanish tapas bar Barrafina and Kitchen Table at Bubbledogs, which serves a no-choice set menu. Other London winners are Indian restaurant Gymkhana, The Clove Club and Fera at Claridge’s, headed by Simon Rogan, while Jason Atherton has achieved another star at City Social.

All restaurants selected in the Guide are listed

At launch, all restaurants selected in the Michelin guide will be listed, including the highly coveted one to three star restaurants as well as the Bib gourmand establishments which serve ‘good cooking at moderate prices’. Badges will indicate the year in which the restaurant first entered the guide and serious foodies can create a wish list of restaurants, adding them to their favourites tab to save for a future gastronomic treat.

Following this, all MICHELIN guide listed restaurants will be available to browse and discover freely through the Bookatable powered app, giving users access to over 2,000 choices. The partnership marries together the global benchmark in gourmet dining with Europe’s largest real-time restaurant marketplace. In the last year Bookatable delivered more than 23.5 million diners to its restaurant and partners and this new app makes it easier than ever for diners to discover expertly selected Michelin establishments.

Key features of the new Michelin Restaurants app enable users to:

  • Find and sort Michelin restaurants by star and Bib gourmand rating, region and price with a sophisticated set of filter options
  • Discover the best Michelin Experiences with geo-location tools and recommendations
  • Take a look at the dishes on offer with the extensive gallery of photographs
  • Check the latest availability in real-time
  • Reserve a table in seconds: anytime, anywhere

The free to download app is available from the Apple App Store and contains all of the content from the 2015 guide as well as exclusive Michelin Experiences and promotions
