Boutique hotel experts Mr & Mrs Smith have launched the Smith Hotel Awards 2014, giving hotel lovers everywhere the chance to celebrate the world’s most stylish stays across a range of categories:

47,000 votes in 2013
Following the success of the inaugural awards in 2013, in which more than 47,000 votes were cast by in-the-know travellers from all over the world, the Smith Hotel Awards are back for a second innings. And this time there’s a brand new category: Best Hotel Pool.
How voting works
• Nominations for each of the award categories have been whittled down by Mr & Mrs Smith insiders to create all-star top 20 lists
• The one exception is Best Smith Hotel 2014, which is open to every hotel in Smith’s quality-curated collection of more than 950 hotels worldwide
• Public voting opened on 1 September: Mr & Mrs Smith will be asking hotel fans to shortlist their favourite hotels by voting online at smithhotelawards.com
• After public voting closes on 30 September, the 10 hotels with the most votes in each category will be passed on to a specialist panel to select the overall winners
The Judges
From the worlds of travel, fashion, food and beyond, the specialist judging panel includes tastemakers such as interior designer Ilse Crawford, master mixologist Tony Conigliaro and restaurateur Marcus Wareing.
Win a stay at the World’s Best Hotel
Anyone who votes is automatically entered into a draw to win a five-night stay at the winner of Best Smith Hotel 2014. Whether it’s an all-singing, all-dancing spa retreat or just an adorable B&B somewhere beautiful, one lucky voter will bag an award-winning stay.
Winners announced 6 November
Smith Hotel Awards 2014 winners will be announced on Thursday 6 November at a party for hoteliers, press and the boutique travel industry at Bankside Vaults, one of London’s hippest venues.

When we launched the awards last year we wanted to throw that question out to our members and the public – and it was Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, California, that came out on top. But things move fast on the boutique hotel scene, so the awards are back, with the same premise: where in the world is the best boutique hotel?”
