Punch launches UK’s biggest pub-business events

By James Russell: Punch launches UK’s biggest pub-business events

September 18, 2014

Potential pub licensees from across the UK are being invited to gain an invaluable insight into the industry as Punch sets to tour the nation with its annual record breaking roadshows, inviting anyone interested in running a Punch pub to come along to sample a taste of life as a pub licensee.

Last year, the UK-wide tour took in 10 regional venues and attracted more than 8,000 visitors – including over 60% of all Punch licensees.

In 2013, Punch licensees were able to take advantage of special discounts and exclusive deals, claim free point of sale kits, arrange meetings with key trade suppliers and sample over 100,000 products offered by the 135 different exhibitors at the events.

The 2014 events kick off on 30th September in Newcastle and continue throughout the autumn, taking in Edinburgh, Leeds, Chester, Birmingham, Sandown, Bolton, Donington, Bristol and concluding at Wembley on 30th October.

Even bigger and better

The events are set to be even bigger and better this year, not least because Partners will be able to benefit from an estimated £5million of giveaways.

At the day-long event, prospective licensees will be able to find out about pubs that are available to let in the area and gain first-hand experience of the extensive business support that Punch provides.

200 pubs available

Punch’s Head of Central Property, Colette Fellows, said: “We have around 3,500 pubs across the UK – ranging from community locals to gastro pubs – and about 200 of those are currently available to take on under a new agreement. We’re happy to have a no-obligation chat with anyone considering entering the trade to see if running a pub business is right for them. They’ll be able to talk to Punch representatives, as well as obtain impartial industry advice from the BII (British Institute of Innkeeping).

“Existing Punch Partners will also be on hand to answer any queries and explain how our best-in-class training, award-winning tailored lease agreements, comprehensive marketing resources and other specialist support has helped them build their pub businesses.”

Prospective licensees interested in taking on a Punch pub should pre-register by calling 01283 501999 or visit www.punchtaverns.com and follow the Punch Taverns Roadshow link.
