More than 70 judges undertook the task to find the Supreme Champion at this year’s Global Cheese Awards, with the winner emerging as Long Clawson Dairy who won with their Stilton.
Long Clawson Blue Stilton is made in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir by Master cheese makers, and began crafting cheese over 100 years ago. Each Stilton is individually graded and hand-selected by their cheese makers to ensure aroma, flavour and appearance are at their very best. The milk for the cheese comes only from local farms, and Long Clawson is one of only six dairies in the world able to make Stilton due to its PDO status.
Commenting on the win, Long Clawson Managing Director Kim Kettle:
“We’re thrilled to have won the Global Supreme Champion award at such a prestigious and long running event. Long Clawson Dairy has been making Blue Stilton for over 100 years and this accolade is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and effort from all our staff.”
Reserve Supreme Champion was Lyhner Dairies with their new Cornish Kern. Wyke Farms won a number of awards including UK Supreme Champion and most points in show. Supreme Retailer for 2014 was Tesco – this award is for the retailer gaining most Gold Awards in the show.
