JW Steakhouse unveils world first Jim Beam Single Barrel

By James Russell: JW Steakhouse unveils world first Jim Beam Single Barrel

September 19, 2014

The world’s number one bourbon Jim Beam, and leading American steakhouse JW Steakhouse at Grosvenor House, have joined forces to unveil the first ever Jim Beam single barrel bourbon to be hand selected and exported from the USA to anywhere in the world.

A labour of love

The journey of the barrel began many months ago with Beverage Manager Karina Elias, flying over to the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky. It was here that Karina carefully hand-picked the barrel under the guidance of the legendary Fred Noe – Jim Beam’s great grandson and seventh generation master distiller. As the first bar in the world to select their own bespoke barrel, this event marked a truly historical moment for both Jim Beam and JW Steakhouse. With the barrel chosen, it was then bottled, personalised JW Steakhouse labels applied, and ready to be shipped to its new home in the capital.

Launching at The Bourbon Bar from 18 September 2014, bourbon lovers in London will have the chance to taste this exceptionally smooth and full-bodied liquid, with attributes of oak, vanilla and caramel. They can also check out the barrel itself, complete with Fred Noe’s signature.

For those seeking the full-experience, food-pairings using the Single Barrel such as Jim Beam Baby Back Ribs, are being prepared by acclaimed head chef, Julian Ward. These bourbon-inspired pairings will be available for guests to enjoy from the specials board at the restaurant. A new cocktail menu has also been developed featuring the liquid.

Cocktails:

Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon, chamomile & honey reduction, lemon juice, American sparkling wine, chamomile & honey sorbet.

Single out for Praise
