Spherical ice is currently very popular. It makes a dramatic statement and melts slowly so doesn’t overly affect the flavour of the drink it’s cooling. Tovolo moulds produce perfect, twin, ice spheres of 6.5cms diameter – perfect for that glass of whisky or brandy. They stack neatly together to conserve space and the silicone lid provides a tight seal to ensure there are no leaks. The sturdy base ensures the moulds do not tip over whilst in the freezer. Also available is Eddington’s giant ice sphere mould which creates 3 sizable balls of ice – each measuring 5.8cms while the smaller version produces 10 ice balls – each measuring a respectable 3.25cms diameter.
Ice rocks are a great alternative to ice balls. The Eddington’s On the Rocks mould makes 3 large, jagged, ice shapes measuring 5.8cms.
