Geronimo Inns lists Hiver, The Honey Beer

By James Russell: Geronimo Inns lists Hiver, The Honey Beer

September 26, 2014

Geronimo Inns has confirmed that it is to list Hiver, The Honey Beer across its entire portfolio of 34 pubs.

Geronimo Inns prides itself on creating pubs that are at the heart of the community, serving the best, freshly prepared food and carefully chosen drinks. The group places great emphasis on staff training and knowledge of all of the products it serves, inviting Hannah Rhodes, founder of Hiver Beers, to host a key staff training session to coincide with the new listing of Hiver across their 34 pubs.

During the session Hannah enthused staff with her background story of the creation of Hiver, her appreciation of the craft beer market and her passion for filling the gap in the market with her urban-rural inspired, crisp, dry honey beer. Staff learned more about the types of honey used within the beer, the all British ethos of Hiver, and how it should be stored and served.

Ocado’s ‘Britain’s Next Best Supplier’

Geronimo Inns first learned about Hiver Beers following Hannah’s successful win of Ocado’s ‘Britain’s Next Best Supplier’ competition. Launched in September 2013, the honey craft beer wowed judges Sir Stuart Rose and Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge, winning full listings and marketing support from the online supermarket. Available through a number of distributors across the UK, Hiver offers operators a premium craft beer choice that is consistent in quality and taste.

Commenting on Hiver and the new listing at Geronimo Inns, Ed Turner, managing director says;

“We are delighted to add Hiver to our listing of craft beers and love the personality it brings to the portfolio. We believe in strong brands and have built the Geronimo portfolio up by ensuring that each of our pubs retains its unique brand identity and a clear and consistent brand promise to our customers. This is achieved through the design and style of each pub, the staff that we recruit and the products that we serve. Hiver matched our brief with its own strong brand credentials, great taste and the commitment and passion that Hannah brings to her product.”

Geronimo Inns began stocking Hiver at the beginning of September, adding to the craft beer’s strong repertoire of gastro pub listings, which include Tom Kerridge’s Hand and Flowers, Heston Blumenthal’s Hinds Head.

Hiver Beers

Hiver is an all-British, all-natural speciality blonde beer made with three different honeys from urban London and rural England. Importantly, the honeys are used during the brew to aid the fermentation and conditioning process, rather than being added afterwards as a flavouring. This process gives the beer a ‘dry finish’, ensuring the honey flavour shines through without it being too sweet or cloying.
