A Waiter Race, “Have a go” activities, and much more are in store as the hospitality industry prepares for National Waiters Day, a day designed to celebrate all Front of House staff and inspire people about careers in the Hospitality industry.
Changing perceptions
The day aims to change the perception of Front of House and Service as an unskilled job working long hours to one of a job that offers good skills, a rewarding career with good progression routes and amazing rewards.
Call to take part in the Waiters Race
To really make the campaign a success, Springboard, the charity behind Waiters Day, are calling all Waiters, Baristas, Bar tenders and Food and Drink professionals to take part in the Waiters Race on Thursday 25th September 2014 in Hyde Park at 4.00PM. The race will involve a dash through Hyde Park where participants will battle to keep a glass and bottle of water on their tray, all the way to the finish line.
Anne Pierce, CEO of Springboard said: “We are delighted to be part of this fantastic National Waiters Day initiative to promote the waiting profession and hospitality industry as a great career choice and to celebrate the success of waiters. The proceeds raised from the initiative will go towards enabling Springboard to develop and run an exciting programme for schools to encourage young people considering a career in front of house”.
Key sponsors involved with National waiters Day are BaxterStorey, Bunzl, Zenith Hygiene, and ISS.
