Armourcoat were delighted to act as sponsor of the Eco, Design & Build hall at 100% Design in September. The UK’s largest and longest running contemporary design event, 100% Design celebrated its 20th edition this year – and the final year based at London’s Earl Court exhibition centre. The 2014 Eco, Design & Build hall included the central ‘materials landscape’ hub, designed and curated by Thomas Matthews in partnership with SCIN gallery. Experts discussed varied projects from biological 3D printing with mushrooms to up-cycling car parks into bars and imagining a future without waste. The hub included the new Istria and KonCrete polished plaster finishes from Armourcoat.
Armourcoat also exhibited at Super Brands for the first time. Super Brands has carved out an impressive reputation presenting the best contemporary design. The East London hub is well known for presenting extraordinary interiors products from established global brands, as well as international showcases and galleries. The company presented ArmourFX custom-made decorative wall panels, Istria polished plaster, the Sculptural ‘Smoke’ design and the new Duncan MacKellar Signature Collection.
At the same event, award-winning UK furniture designer Steuart Padwick presented his ‘Eye of the Storm’ UHPC Ductal table created by Armourcoat. The Super Design Gallery moved into the rarefied world of low volume, high-end design. The premise for this space was to provide a showcase for museum quality pieces, reflecting demand in the market for authenticity and originality; a welcome slap in the face for the current period of austerity. 14 international designers were represented in this year’s Super Design Gallery alongside Steuart Padwick including Lex Pott, David Derksen, Freshwest, Laura Kishimoto, Jake Phipps and Sekita Design Studio.
