Meantime Brewing is having a busy summer: from its Brewfest, to new Blippar app, to its BeerBox pop-up bar – all delivering interest and value to customers old and new. Check these initiatives out below.
Brewfest returns due to popular demand
Brewfest returns this August celebrating modern craft beer and brewing and taking place over three days – from Saturday August 23rd to Monday August 25th – at The Old Brewery, in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
The event will feature three main bars, representing craft beer from the UK, America and the rest of Europe. Over 150 different beers will be on offer, from rare speciality brews through to firm favourites. Londoners will be able to sample a wide variety of different craft beers and experts will be on hand to suggest beer and food pairing options.
The Meantime Beer Tank will be in presence throughout the weekend, whilst live music performances will create background ambience and tutored beer and cheese tastings will be on offer in the Old Brewery main room in the evenings.
Richard Myers, Marketing Director at Meantime says:
“We started Brewfest as a celebration of the international craft beer scene – showcasing the quality beers and brewers that have helped turn around the fortunes of the beer category. The second annual event in May was such a success that we’ve decided to hold the event twice this year.”
“Our aim is to bring different styles and flavours from around the globe into one place for people to enjoy, in a relaxed environment. The beer scene in London has never been stronger and it’s modern craft that is driving this revival. BrewFest is our way of celebrating.”
Meantime unveils ‘virtual sommeliers’ with new Blippar app
Meantime Brewing Company is now offering consumers the ultimate in hyper-immersive marketing – using the Blippar experience to create an innovative augmented reality (AR) app for the beer connoisseur.
Using Blippar, a free app that can be downloaded on smartphones and tablet devices, customers can ‘blipp’ the Meantime logo on labels and beer font badges to reveal a menu of interactive options, including 30 second mini-videos by expert sommeliers imparting tasting-notes and food matching advice.
Geared towards expanding the horizons of inquisitive beer drinkers, the app employs the latest in AR technology to harnesses the craft brewer’s most powerful point of sale. Bringing the unique array of products to life, its potential to educate and inform is placed at the hands of the consumer and anchored firmly in the environments in which Meantime is most enjoyed – from busy restaurants, pubs and bars, to the local supermarket and in the home.
Additional features include a range of carefully created beer-based recipes as well as news and information, competitions and offers.
The brand new Meantime compatible Blippar app will be available to download for free on Windows, Android and iTunes.

BeerBox Pop-Up Bar
Meantime launched a brand new pop-up concept on 7th August, located on Green Peninsula Square opposite North Greenwich Tube Station.
Created with design agency Hooperberg, the two-storey ‘BeerBox’ is made from customised shipping containers. The bar will serve Meantime’s core range of beers, as well as the most recent limited editions and seasonal brews. In addition, the BeerBox will also be home to the exclusive Peninsula Pale Ale which will be dispensed using the company’s state of the art Brewery Fresh tank beer concept.
The BeerBox will be open all year round, and with an open top roof terrace above bar level (see above!) it’s the perfect place for chilling in the sunshine.
Nick Miller, Meantime CEO comments:
“Meantime aims to innovate and pioneer with its craft beer and has looked at many options to bring its range to the drinker. With this in mind, we wanted to create an interesting space and experience for our drinkers where they can enjoy modern craft beer in an entertaining environment.
“The BeerBox provides us with the perfect opportunity to educate consumers about our craft in a fantastic location just minutes from our brewery. The footfall from the tube to London’s busiest entertainment venue numbers millions a year, so it’s the ideal setting to showcase quality modern craft brewing and encourage brand interaction”.
Meantime has partnered with Knight Dragon, the development company charged with rejuvenating the Greenwich Peninsula area, and agreed the prime location for the BeerBox, just 200 yards from North Greenwich tube.
