Macdonald Aviemore £600K Activity Centre for kids

By James Russell: Macdonald Aviemore £600K Activity Centre for kids

August 22, 2014

Every moment will be an adventure.  That’s the promise awaiting children and teenagers of all ages as the world-class four-star Macdonald Aviemore Resort in the Scottish Highlands opens its brand new, £600,000 state of the art Aviemore Activity Centre.

For 2 to 16 year olds

Featuring nine interconnected ‘play’ zones over 1500 square metres, each age specific zone is packed with some of the latest interactive technology to ensure every moment delivers fun and adventure for its (2-16 year-old) young participants.

Open to guests and non-residents alike, Scotland’s latest and one of the largest supervised play activity centre’s has been designed to complement the stunning natural beauty and diverse leisure pursuits offered in and around the Cairngorm National Park, within which Macdonald Aviemore Resort is located.

Themed zones

Designed by Wiltshire based company TigerPlay, the highly imaginative activity centre of themed zones reflect the resort’s aim of giving children the opportunity to safely both learn and embrace technology and to enjoy the sense of freedom, fun and adventure offered by traditional indoor and outdoor play.

The youngest participants can climb, slide and clamber in the nature themed soft play world of Tumble (0-2), while in Explore (3-5 years) a 3-storey high, soft play maze competes for attention with discovery tables and drawing.  Skip next door into Play (6-12 years) and a kaleidoscope of colour is the base for the chance to discover science, enjoy the interactive floor space, make jewellery and even take to the stage as a costumed actor to perform an impromptu play!

Tweenies and teenagers

The needs of visitors in those fickle tweenie and teenage years have also been carefully considered, incorporating space for high tech entertainment, creativity and quiet time alike.  The aptly named Game zone features a giant plasma screen and X-Box, while Mix is where budding DJ’s and musicians can use a drum kit, electronic mixing desk and video technology to cut their own tracks or to record their latest dance moves. Calm is a zone incorporating sensory features to encourage quiet time and this is complemented by Chill.  Here, those aged 13 years-old or more discover a relaxation space for their exclusive use.  Discreetly monitored by CCTV and accessed via coded door, the zone includes ipod stations, TV and lounge seating to socialise or simply chill!
