Laura Ashley’s luxury hotel beside Lake Windermere

By James Russell: Laura Ashley’s luxury hotel beside Lake Windermere

August 5, 2014

One of the best-loved British brands, Laura Ashley, is expanding its presence in the world of luxury hotels. Standing in prime position next to majestic Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, the design brand has just launched its second luxury boutique hotel.

Named ‘Laura Ashley The Belsfield Lake District,’ the hotel in the resort town of Bowness-on-Windermere combines classic British elegance with a contemporary style and deluxe facilities – together with some of the finest views the Lake District National Park has to offer.

The Belsfield Hotel has partnered with Laura Ashley in an association that has seen the grand Victorian property undergo a multi-million pound refurbishment and be branded as a Laura Ashley hotel. The partnership is a licensing agreement in which Laura Ashley has provided its professional interior design service, using its world-renowned Home collections, for a complete renovation of the hotel. The Belsfield continues to be operated by the well-known Corus Hotels group.

An award-winning architect-designed glass reception overlooking Lake Windermere creates a magnificent arrival to the Grade II Listed hotel, which dates from 1845. Views of the lake and the Cumbrian Hills can be enjoyed throughout the hotel.

The Belsfield includes 62 stunning rooms and sumptuous suites, with beds dressed in luxury Egyptian cotton sheets and bathrooms warmed with underfloor heating. It has been lavishly designed throughout by the Laura Ashley Interior Design Service using the company’s famous fabrics, furniture and fittings.

The hotel’s Belsfield Restaurant offers fine dining set against a backdrop of spectacular views over Lake Windermere and the fells beyond. Cumbrian produce features extensively on the menu which combines nouvelle cuisine and traditional British dishes.

Other features include: a glamorous cocktail bar and brasserie, ornate drawing room and library, and state-of-the-art conference facilities, as well as a relaxing putting green, picturesque garden terrace, heated indoor swimming pool, gym and sauna set in six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

Double rooms, including breakfast for two, start at £150 per night in the summer season, with deals available from the autumn.
