Host Management’s Leisure Division has won the contract to operate the catering facilities at Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex, the Surrey-based sports complex run by Freedom Leisure.
Host has taken over the eight-year, £16m contract from Compass.
“This is our biggest leisure win to date and our largest single site,” commented Host’s Sales Director, Andrew Scott. “We already run the catering at Freedom Leisure’s K2 facility in West Sussex, so it’s fantastic to be providing services at Spectrum too – one of the largest leisure attractions in the country.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Host and a real boost to our fast-expanding leisure division. We won the Spectrum contract because of our flexible approach and willingness to work closely with the client to deliver new, freshly prepared and modern food styles that today’s customers want to eat.”
Host will manage all the catering outlets at the centre and employ over 50 staff. In a first for the company it takes on Spectrum’s existing Wimpy franchise and is partnering Mexican brand Old El Paso in the launch of El Paso Cantina. Host has also introduced its GROUND café concept on the concourse along with pop-up food stands during peak times.
Facilities at Guildford Spectrum include ice skating, tenpin bowling, activity pools, concerts and major sporting events. The £28m facility sees two million visitors through its doors every year.
Host Management is an independent, nationally based contract catering company founded in 2004 and headed up by Bill Toner as CEO.
