This Bank Holiday weekend more Britons look set to get away to enjoy the last of the summer 2014, despite the lukewarm temperatures.
Travelodge, which has 500 hotels, has reported it has experienced a double digit increase in room bookings for this Bank Holiday compared to last year – when temperatures hit 27C.
City and coastal breaks
Interestingly, Travelodge data reports that more Britons are taking a city break this Bank Holiday with the company reporting a spike in bookings at its London, York, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow hotels.
In addition, despite the weather forecasts, Travelodge has also experienced a surge in bookings across its coastal hotels on the south coast and in the South West too. The following hotels are almost fully booked from Friday right through to Monday – Brighton, Hastings, St Austell, Torquay, Newquay and Bournemouth.
Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge spokeswoman said: “Get up & go is certainly the motto for this weekend as more Britons are making the most of the last summer Bank Holiday. Despite the lukewarm weather forecasts, we have experienced a record number of room bookings this week for the weekend. Interestingly we have seen a surge in city breaks being booked this August Bank Holiday compared to last year where coastal breaks were more popular.”
