Windermere Golf Club offers new catering contract

By James Russell: Windermere Golf Club offers new catering contract

July 4, 2014

Following a very successful 5 year stint at Windermere Golf Club, caterer Suzanne Pye is soon to be freeing up the position for another energetic catering outlet to step up and make their mark.  The club have recently invested in both the course and the clubhouse and are now seeking a self-employed caterer to help take the club ‘to the next level’.

Full catering services

Required to provide full catering services for the club’s growing number of members, visitors, visiting parties, society and corporate golf days for up to 180 players, in addition to other functions such as weddings for up to 120, the live-in position is perfect for those wishing to develop their business.

Despite news of the soon-to-be vacant position only just emerging, the club have already received a considerable level of interest, a development that is no surprise to Chairman, Cliff Heath:

“The past 6 months have been particularly active for us, with a new management committee and strategy for the future and we are attracting a lot of attention at the current time.” he says.  “We are determined to be the best golf club in the county and our catering facilities are instrumental to that objective, so we will be selecting very carefully the company that best mirrors our ambition.”

Windermere Golf Club is situated in the heart of the Lake District, with breathtaking views across the fells and surrounding area.  Recently referred to as a ‘miniature Gleneagles’ by the golfing press, the club was established in 1891 and has more than 700 members across all age ranges.

Despite Cumbria’s wet weather, Windermere Golf Club is played all year round, with an extensive ‘greens improvement’ operation undertaken in 2005 at a cost of £750,000 and built to USGA standards.

Renowned PGA Head Professional, Simon Edwards, provides exceptional tuition at the club, having worked with some of the world’s finest teachers such as Jim Flick, David Leadbetter and Dave Pelz.
