Twizoo app harnesses Twitter to whet London appetites

By James Russell: Twizoo app harnesses Twitter to whet London appetites

July 14, 2014

This month sees the launch of Twizoo, an app that makes finding great places to eat and drink while out and about in London quicker, easier and more intuitive. Instead of forcing users to trawl through endless anonymous comments on desktop review sites, Twizoo harnesses the power of Twitter to show users what’s nearby, what’s hot or not, while also highlighting places with something special going on.

The app enables restaurants and pubs to attract new, nearby customers who may not be following a restaurant on Twitter, and is free for users and also offers a free version that any London restaurant or pub can try.

Over 25,000 London restaurants and pubs

The app distils tweets about over 25,000 London restaurants and pubs into a simple, intuitive real-time view. With over 1 million tweets about London establishments since January 2014 alone, Twizoo users can be confident that the information shown reflects a wide range of what people think about a venue. For every review of a restaurant on TripAdvisor, there are seven tweets about it, allowing Twizoo to provide in-depth insight, all through a simple, fun interface.

Avoid dated, irrelevant reviews

Madeline Parra, CEO & Co-founder of Twizoo:

“I found myself wading through a lot of dated, irrelevant reviews when I was planning evenings out. I thought it would be great if I could see feedback about restaurants and pubs that was more authentic and more real-time, while also allowing me to see what’s on at a restaurant or pub right now, all in one place. That’s Twizoo.”

Many of London’s top establishments are already on board to work with Twizoo at launch. For time-starved restaurant teams, Twizoo expands a restaurant’s reach without it having to dedicate additional manpower to social media.

iBeacons

In addition to the free version, paid subscription packages for restaurants and pubs are also available, offering several enhanced features. Most notably, Twizoo will be able to tell restaurant and pub subscribers exactly how many customers visited because of the app, via a handy iBeacon. iBeacons are already in such outlets as Mother Clucker, Brunswick House, Bodeans BBQ and Aqua Group.

To demonstrate its commitment to growing business for restaurants and pubs, if Twizoo doesn’t generate customers for a business, then that month is free for paid subscribers.

Restaurants and pub subscribers can also use Twizoo’s Customer TLC alerts to focus on providing great service experiences more immediately. These allow restaurants and pubs to get real-time updates about feedback they want to know about. 78% of negative tweets are sent from inside a restaurant, so selective real-time notification can help transform negative feedback.
