Spirit Pub Company marked the 20th anniversary of Wacky Warehouse by hosting a free big birthday bash on 27 June, in which 77 Wacky Warehouses from across the UK took part in the free giant party and more than 5,000 kids were invited to join the merrymaking. Pudsey Bear and Wacky mascots Wendy and Wesley were on hand to collect early donations for BBC Children in Need, which totalled more than £5,000.
Spirit’s Support Centre also got in on the birthday celebrations with Chief Executive Officer Mike Tye cutting the birthday cake with Wacky Brand Manager Carol Rhead (pictured above).
Carol said: “Our free big birthday bash was a roaring success – after all, who better to celebrate with and reward than the parents and kids who’ve been coming to Wacky for years.
“We’ve marked the occasion in true Wacky style with big birthday cake for our Support Centre and a massive free party filled with games, treats and lots of play, which hopefully created some great memories that will last another 20 years.”
Started in 1994…
The world’s first Wacky Warehouse opened in 1994, as a place for kids to have fun and at the same time enjoy a family meal with their parents at the adjoining pub. Since then Wacky Warehouse has opened 77 outlets nationwide, becoming the UK’s largest soft play and activity centre for children aged up to 12 years old, hosting more than 400,000 kids’ parties in the process.
As well as free entry into the world’s biggest party, five lucky kids also received a limited edition Wacky Platinum Card, which entitles them to unlimited free entry to Wacky Warehouses across the UK up until their 12th birthday.
