Inn the Park is not only celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, but the Tom Dixon designed restaurant, bar and café in leafy St James’s Park London operated by Peyton and Byrne has also undergone an interior and exterior refurbishment, following a month-long closure earlier this spring. While St James’s Park is busy with visitors throughout the year, it is also very popular with locals from Westminster, Whitehall, St James’s and Mayfair.
Setting the agenda for park dining
Oliver Peyton is justifiably proud of Inn the Park’s decade milestone. He stated: “St James’s Park is an extraordinarily beautiful setting any hour of the day– and Inn the Park has become a modern landmark in its own way, welcoming visitors and Londoners throughout every season. We have seen such an evolution over the past ten years – we were the first year round British park restaurant, and pretty much set the agenda for park dining.”
Open daily from breakfast through lunch, snacks, afternoon tea, cocktails and dinner, Inn the Park has menus and drinks lists that evolve through the day. The concentration is always on healthy, highly seasonal British ingredients, with great attention to local specialist suppliers, rare breed farmers and artisan producers.
Contemporary wooden pavilion
The contemporary wooden pavilion features new larchwood flooring, lighting, indoor and outdoor furniture, and a bar on the main terrace. The setting is calm, relaxing and tranquil with picturesque views in each direction. There is restaurant seating for up to 120, as well as self-service, either to eat on either of the terraces or to take into the Park. The upper terrace is available for private parties for up to 100 guests.
Ready for a busy summer season, Inn the Park has also introduced an outside bar on the terrace and a range of new options on the all-day menus which now include grilled options from a new state-of-the-art BBQ in the kitchen – for beef, chicken and pork – as well as daily specials. ‘Ribs on the Roof’ is a special promotion daily 12pm – 9pm offering a half-rack of ribs with spicy coleslaw and a Saxon beer for £10 until the end of August.
