Hotcha adds Platinum Wave to accelerate franchise campaign

By James Russell: Hotcha adds Platinum Wave to accelerate franchise campaign

July 11, 2014

Leading independent franchise consultancy Platinum Wave has been appointed to help develop a UK franchise network for leading Chinese food franchise Hotcha which has ambitious plans to open over 100 stores within the next five years through franchising.

The chain, which serves freshly-made Chinese dishes for collection or delivery, was founded two years ago by entrepreneur James Liang (pictured), who had a vision to create the UK’s first national Chinese takeaway brand. There are currently nine company owned Hotcha stores in the South West of England with three more set to be opened in the coming months. The company aims to open one owned store per month on average in future with the ultimate goal of listing within the next few years.

Brilliant business model

Suzie McCafferty, managing director of Platinum Wave, a bfa accredited consultancy, said: “Hotcha has a brilliant business model which it has proven in its existing outlets.  They have a very slick centralised food preparation, call centre and operations infrastructure which means franchisees do not have to have Chinese cooking experience.  Franchise owners will be taught the company’s unique methods at their dedicated training academy.  We have been actively involved in helping to develop the franchise offering, franchise documentation and operational systems.  We are delighted to be working with such an innovative and forward thinking business to now recruit dynamic and business minded franchisees who are interested in operating multi-unit franchises in key regions throughout the UK and Ireland.”

She added: “We were also very pleased to see that Hotcha has recently appointed Andy Emmerson as a non-executive director.  Andy has a wealth of experience in the franchise sector having formerly been business development director for Dominos Pizza, managing director of Millie’s Cookies and international brand director at Upper Crust.  He was also a senior executive at Dunkin Donuts in the US.”
