Pip Lacey is new Head Chef at Angela Hartnett’s Murano

By James Russell: Pip Lacey is new Head Chef at Angela Hartnett’s Murano

June 3, 2014

Pip Lacey is the new head chef at Michelin-starred Murano replacing Diego Cardoso who leaves in June. Pip currently holds the position of senior sous chef. She first joined the Murano brigade in June 2011, having previously worked with Angela Hartnett at York and Albany.

Diego’s departure marks the end of ten years of working alongside Angela in various capacities and he has led Murano’s kitchen brigade since 2008.

Chef proprietor, Angela Hartnett MBE, commented:

“Pip is an extremely gifted chef, who will continue to maintain the high standards I set for Murano. I wish Diego all the best. In the ten years I have worked with him, he has grown to become an incredible talent who is now more than ready to take the next step in his career.”

Sara Kent has also recently joined the Murano team as General Manager, from her previous role as Hospitality manager for Whitechapel Gallery.

Speaking of the changes to senior management, Hartnett continued:

“I’m particularly pleased to be able to manage the developments for Murano from within, and excited by the prospect of working with this dynamic new team to advance the restaurant in the coming months and years.”

About Murano

Murano, the Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant run by Chef Proprietor, Angela Hartnett, opened in August 2008. Originally a joint venture with Gordon Ramsay, the restaurant opened to critical acclaim and Angela took over sole ownership in 2010. The menu is modern with an Italian accent, reflecting Angela’s family roots, and dishes change along with the seasons. Diners can opt for a set lunch menu or flexible A la carte, with the option of wines carefully selected by Head Sommelier, Matteo Ramazzina. Murano has a refined interior with striking glass panelling, crisp linens and warm leather surrounded by frescoed walls. A chef’s table at the far end of the restaurant allows diners to enjoy a bespoke menu with direct views into the kitchen.
