By James Russell: Jens Hallman appointed GM of Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport

June 24, 2014

The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Jens Hallman as the new General Manager of the flagship Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport.

“Jens is a real asset to the team in Manchester.  He brings with him a wealth of experience and his proven track record is second to none.  I’m confident the hotel will go from strength to strength under Jens’ leadership” says Malcolm Rann, Regional Director, Radisson Blu UK

Jens, who is Swedish, has broad experience spanning over 20 years within the hospitality industry, having held positions in Conference & Banqueting, Food & Beverage, and Sales.  Jens joined Rezidor in 2002 as Sales Manager of the Radisson SAS Arlandia and subsequently held a number of Director of Sales roles in Scandinavia.

In 2007, Jens relocated to England to take the position of Executive Assistant Manager at the Park Inn by Radisson London Heathrow before being promoted to General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, London Stansted Airport in January 2009.  In 2012, Jens moved to Cardiff as General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cardiff – his most recent position.  During his time in Cardiff, Jens and his team secured the accolade of Hotel of the Year 2013 at the Carlson Rezidor Shining Star awards, beating off stiff competition from 47 other hotels in the UK & Ireland Area.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport

In its 15th year of operation, the 360-room Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport is currently sporting a stylish and contemporary new look as part of an ongoing £10m refurbishment programme.  Over three phases, the hotel is being completely transformed.  Phase one was completed in November 2013 with the hotel’s reception and lobby area, restaurant and bar, 120 Business Class bedrooms and suites, and the airport’s largest functions and events area – including all 27 meeting rooms – being dramatically restyled.  Additionally, the Observatory Suite was converted into a stylish Executive Lounge, complete with private reception and dedicated hotel check-in facility for Business Class room guests.

Phase two, which will be completed by the end of May 2014, focuses on a full restyle of 120 Superior guest bedrooms.  Upon completion, the rooms will boast a light and airy, contemporary look and feel.  The colour palette is light and neutral with accents of striking plum, providing a stylish yet comfortable space to relax, unwind and sleep.
